Contractor's Corner for Existing Contractors

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is an excellent opportunity for insulation and air sealing companies, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors, handyman, and home remodeling firms to expand their business. Being a part of Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is also a great way to distinguish qualified companies from their competitors in the market.

To participate in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, a contractor firm must become an E-Star Preferred Contractor. There are many benefits to doing so, including being able to:

  • Provide more value added services to your existing customers
  • Obtain new customers with a wider spectrum of services
  • Expand your business by obtaining training and certification in areas of home improvement that are new to your firm

To become an E-Star Preferred Contractor and participate in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, a contractor must:

  • Fill out an application. (PDF)
  • Authorize a credit check of your company.
  • Undergo a classroom and field training course that covers the business and technical elements of the program. The cost of the training is $1,500 for up to two people per organization. Upon completion of 10 reported jobs within six months of training     E-Star Colorado will refund $500.00 of the original training fees to the participating company.
  • Sign a partnership agreement that commits you to provide minimum reporting and participate in third-party testing for quality assurance purposes. An annual participation fee will be charged to cover the cost of the quality assurance. E-Star Colorado’s quality assurance program for Home Performance with ENERGY STAR assures that high standards for energy efficiency home retrofits are achieved.

Training and marketing support is available for contractors interested in participating in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR in Colorado program. Please contact:
